Jenko Award 2011 goes to Primož Čučnik

The Slovenian Jenko Award, which is granted each year by the Slovenian Writers’ Association for the best poetry book of the last two years this year goes to Primož Čučnik for his eighth book Kot dar (Like a present). According to the jury it is a “fusion of reflection, imagination and emotionality, so it could tersely be termed tender intellectualism.” Its language is “a mixture of elevated and everyday style, traditional and modernistic writing, free and rhythmic verse, perfect and oblique rhymes.”
